Friends of Hazel Wood

Who are we?

The Friends of Hazel Wood are a group of mums, dads and carers with children at Hazel Wood Infant School who meet with the aim of raising money by running events during the year. Funds raised contribute to buying additional resources that the school may not otherwise be able to buy.

The current Friends of Hazel Wood Committee is:

Lyn Manuel
Chair
Katie Kempsey/Lee Hounslow
Joint Vice Chair
Lisa Vail
Treasurer
Nikki Paskins
Secretary

What do we do?

We organise fundraising events and opportunities for the school to raise money, such as:

Fun Run
Christmas Card designs
Easter Egg Hunt
Quiz
Discos & Parties
Christmas Fayre
Summer Fayre
Competitions

Over the last 4 years more than £32,000 has been raised enabling the school to purchase equipment to support the children at school. These items have included:

Picnic tables for the classes
Repainting the school playground
Gardening Equipment and tools for the children
Sandpits and playpits for the classes
Electronic whiteboards to support classroom teaching
Outdoor play equipment  - including the very popular play train
Technological gadgets so the children can develop different skills
Outdoor canopies outside reception class

How can you get involved?

Support the events

Come along with your family and friends to support the fundraising events.  Look out on parentmail, in the book bags, on the school notice board and on the website www.hazelwoodinfant.co.uk for the latest events.

You can always offer items for prizes for the events, whether it be a plant, cakes, bottles or even big prizes for the grand prize.

Be a volunteer

Help out at the events, the success of these events relies on volunteers help in the run up to events and on the day.  Are you good at face painting, hair braiding, serving teas and coffees, baking cookies and cakes or manning stands.  We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the events, whether it be manning a stall for an hour, serving tea and coffee, or helping set up and clear up after particularly for the Summer Fayre and the Christmas Fayre.  Many hands make light work and more fun for all involved.

Become a committee member

At the end of each school year we do say goodbye a few committee members so we always look for newcomers to join the committee and help raise money for the school.  So come along to the AGM to show your support.

How to get in touch:

We have a pigeon hole in the school office, so you can leave a note there, or find one of the members in the playground.
